Kevin MacLeod is a professional composer who creates royalty-free music that can be found on his site, incompetech.com. His music has been featured on the Internet, radio, and television programs; and in films, theater performances, commercials, and industrial programs. MacLeod believes that the current copyright legal regime denies people the freedom to express themselves creatively. The vast majority of MacLeod's work falls within the creative commons license, which permits anyone to use the work however they wish as long as they credit him to the work. Kevin encourages people who use his music to give him a donation. He splits his time between New York City and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Kevin MacLeod is no stranger to music. He has composed and played music his entire life. After a short hiatus to pursue an interest in computer programming Kevin returned to his roots and began composing professionally about six years ago.

His musical compositions are diverse and tailored to a wide array of projects and thanks to his unique approach at self promotion through royalty free music on his site Incompetech, his music can be heard on thousands of completed projects by both professional and amateur artists. In fact it is quite possible that you may have heard a MacLeod composition without knowing who wrote it.

Kevin sometimes spends up to sixteen hours in the studio composing and refining pieces. Traveling between residences in Green Bay, WI and New York City he has worked with a number of artists, most recently lending his talent to the off Broadway Musical Play: Black Peter, which was performed on November 26th in Chicago, and 27th in New York City.

Kevin has produced music in every imaginable genre. From dark foreboding horror to whimsical fantasy pieces, his compositions are solid works of art. In addition to these popular genres he also produces world fusion, classical, and contemporary film score.
