Helping a ScammerJune 23, 2009Got this email today, not sure what sort of scam this is... probably "help buy me a plane ticket... Oh No! I need another ticket... Oh no! My purse was stolen.. Oh no!" etc.> Hi Dear New Friend, > > how are you today i hope that every things is OK with you, my name is monica > it is my great pleasure to contact you through this medium requesting for a > relationship and i know that you will grant my request in good faith and > understadning while we see what happened in future. i will be very happy if > you can write me through my email monicarose_a6@yahoo.com for me to send my > picture and details about my self, you should remember that distance, color, > language or race cannot be barriers. > > i will be waiting to hear from you > Your new friend. > Miss monica > My replyThe tone of this email is unfriendly... very proper - certainly correct, but not friendly flirty or fun. Consider rewriting to something like this: Hey there, how are you today? I know you don't know me, but my name is Monica. I saw your profile and thought I could send you an email. If you don't try, you never will know what could happen! Let me know if you'd like some photos or details from me. I am trying to introduce myself, so it is no worries! :-) I will be waiting to hear from you! Your new friend. - Monica Rose Good luck! - Kevin ContinuanceWhat I didn't expect next was a reply... and a Nice one at that! Thanks Kevin for the correction, I appreciate. God bless you monicaSo if you got suckered in by my revision to "Monica's" letter... sorry about that, man. Seriously.
